内容提要 Abstract

Oceans and seas have already become a hot issue in international affairs and the focus of attention of coastal states. It is of paramount significance to establish and improve international marine order for the peaceful utilization and protection of oceans and seas. Known as “the constitution of the oceans”, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) is a vital embodiment of international law of the sea. This book introduces the formulation process of UNCLOS and China’s role in this process, briefs on the principles on which UNCLOS is based and its contents, and discusses how to use UNCLOS to understand and resolve maritime issues concerning China.
